Budget Leases (“we”, “us”) operates budgetleases.com, a free service that helps renters find the cheapest apartments across the US. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

What we collect

Account info. If you create an account, your email address and (optionally) the city you’re searching. Your password is handled securely by our authentication provider, we never see or store it.
Saved data. The searches and listings you save, so we can show them back to you and send the alerts you asked for.
Usage analytics. To see how the site is used so we can improve it, we use Google Analytics and PostHog (product analytics), alongside Vercel Web Analytics. These record the pages you view, the site that referred you, approximate location (city or region, derived from your IP, not precise), device and browser type, and how you move through the site. Google Analytics and PostHog set cookies to do this. We do not use this analytics data to build advertising profiles, and we don’t sell it.

How we use it

To send you the market report and the saved-search alerts you signed up for.
To operate, secure, and improve the service.
We do not sell your information to data brokers or to anyone unrelated to your search. If you opt in to be matched with apartments, see “Connecting you with apartments” below for exactly how that works and how we may be compensated.

Connecting you with apartments

When you submit a “Contact this property” or “Get matched” request and check the consent box, you are asking us to help connect you with rentals. To do that, we share the details you provide (your name, phone, email, and what you’re looking for) with the relevant apartment communities and their representatives so they can contact you about openings that fit your search, by phone, text, or email.

We do this only when you opt in by checking that box, and only with operators relevant to the rental you asked about or the area and budget you told us. Consent is not a condition of using the site or renting anything. We do not sell your information to data brokers or to anyone unrelated to your search, and you can ask us to stop and delete your details at any time by emailing us. You can always contact a property directly through its own listing instead, which we link on every page.

How we’re paid. Our service is free to you. Some of the apartment communities or their representatives may pay us a referral or advertising fee when we connect you with them. This never changes what you pay (nothing) or who we match you with (only operators relevant to your search). Depending on your state (for example California’s CCPA/CPRA, Texas’s TDPSA, and similar laws), connecting you in exchange for a fee may be considered “selling” or “sharing” your personal information. You can opt out at any time: simply don’t submit the match form, or email us to delete your details and we won’t share them. You may also ask us to access or delete the information we hold about you.

Email

Every email we send includes a one-click Unsubscribe and an “I found a place” option. Unsubscribing stops all email from us. We use Resend to deliver email.

Text messages (SMS)

If you give us your phone number and check the consent box, we may text you (including by automated means) to follow up on your apartment search, send you openings that fit your budget, and answer your questions. It’s optional, and never a condition of using the site or renting anywhere.

Opting out is easy. Reply STOP to any message and we’ll stop; reply HELP or email us if you need anything.
How often? It varies with your search and our conversation, there’s no set schedule. Message and data rates may apply (that’s between you and your mobile carrier).
Your texting consent stays private. We don’t sell or share your mobile number or your SMS opt-in with third parties for their own marketing. The only place your contact details go is the referral you asked for, connecting you with the specific apartments that match your search (see “Connecting you with apartments” above), which you can stop at any time.

Service providers

We share data only with the vendors that run the service, who process it on our behalf: Supabase (database & authentication), Resend (email delivery), Vercel (hosting & analytics), and Google Analytics & PostHog (usage analytics).

Cookies & advertising

We use a single authentication cookie/session while you’re logged in, and our analytics providers (Google Analytics and PostHog) set cookies to measure how the site is used. On the landing pages we link to from paid ads, we also use conversion-measurement tags from Google, Meta, and Microsoft so we can tell which ads work; these may set cookies. We do not use them to build advertising profiles for sale. When you submit the match form on those pages, we may also send Google a hashed (irreversible) version of your email or phone so it can measure which ad led to your inquiry; we never send these in plain text. You can block or clear cookies in your browser at any time, or opt out of Google Analytics with Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Your choices

Unsubscribe from any email at any time (link in every message).
Ask us to delete your account and associated data by emailing us.
Limit analytics with a tracker/ad blocker or your browser’s cookie controls, or opt out of Google Analytics with the opt-out browser add-on.

Budget Leases is a rental tracker and is not affiliated with any listing provider. Prices and availability change frequently, always verify on the original listing.
