Rental pricing in the US is scattered across thousands of separate websites, which makes it hard for renters to compare and easy to overpay. Budget Leases exists to fix that: we index publicly advertised rents the same way a search engine indexes the web, and we send you directly to the property’s own website to apply. This page explains exactly where our data comes from and how to change what we show about your property.

What we index

• Facts. Advertised rents, beds, baths, square footage, and addresses, collected from publicly accessible pages, the kind of factual information anyone can read and nobody owns.
• Open data. Building discovery uses Overture Maps places data (an open, permissively licensed dataset backed by AWS, Meta, Microsoft, and TomTom).
• Ratings. Star ratings and review counts come from Google, linked back to the source.
• Our own writing. Every description, guide, and FAQ on this site is written by us, never copied from a listing.

How we vet a listing

We don’t list everything we find, we list what we can stand behind. Before a building goes live we confirm it’s a real, active community (cross-checked against Google), require at least one genuine photo, and drop anything we can’t verify or whose price is implausible for its size. Where Google has a rating, we show it with the review count linked to the source; where we haven’t checked yet, we say “Rating coming soon” rather than leave a misleading blank. The result is a smaller, cleaner set of listings than a scrape-everything portal, ranked honestly by price.

Photos and tours

Building photos remain the property of their owners. Where we show one, it is an attributed preview of what the property itself publishes, served from the source, with a removal path on every listing. 3D and video tours are embedded from what properties have publicly published (for example a Matterport or YouTube tour), the same way any website embeds a public video. Property managers can replace previews with their own photos for free by claiming their listing.

Our crawler

Our crawler identifies itself honestly as BudgetLeasesBot/1.0 (linking to this page), respects robots.txt, reads only publicly accessible pages, never logs into anything, and collects facts, not content. If you operate a site and prefer we not index it, disallow our bot in robots.txt or email us and we will honor it.

Property managers: this is free distribution

Every listing links renters straight to your website, not to a portal that charges you per lead. If we show your building, you can claim the listing free of charge to add your own photos, correct details, or remove it entirely. We honor removal requests promptly, no formal process required (though a formal one exists on our DMCA page).

Accuracy and freshness

Advertised rents change constantly. We refresh pricing on a rolling basis and show the latest we have on record, and every listing tells you to confirm with the property. If you spot something wrong, the Report an issue button on each listing goes straight to us.
