How we rank them
“Typical” is the median rent across everything we track in a city, so half the listings are cheaper and half pricier. “From” is the single cheapest unit listed right now. We include cities with at least five live listings and exclude single rooms and senior housing. Small-city medians can swing on a handful of listings, so the bigger markets are the most stable. Refreshes when our data does (last updated Jun 8, 2026).
Frequently asked questions
What is the cheapest city to rent in Georgia?
By typical (median) rent it's East Point, around $926/mo, then Valdosta and Macon. The cheapest markets are a mix of inner Atlanta suburbs and the mid-size cities outside the metro. The ranking rebuilds from live listings, so it moves with the market.
Is Atlanta expensive compared to the rest of Georgia?
Atlanta itself is moderate, but the metro spreads wide: the inner-ring suburbs (East Point, College Park, Riverdale) are some of the cheapest rent in the state, while the affluent north-side suburbs (Johns Creek, Alpharetta, Chamblee) run well above. Outside Atlanta, Macon, Valdosta, Columbus and Warner Robins are the value markets; Savannah is the priciest non-Atlanta city.
Is Georgia cheaper than Florida for rent?
Yes, noticeably. A typical Georgia rental runs well under the Florida median, mostly because Georgia has nothing like the South Florida coast pulling the average up. Within Georgia, the city still matters more than the state line.
